Penguin Pushes the Publishing Envelope
There is some pretty intriguing news out of the UK publishing scene where Penguin is getting set to launch a pretty ambition alternative approach to some new titles that begin to make reading sound a lot more like an ARG. From the press release:
“But somewhere on the internet is a seventh story, a mysterious tale involving a vaguely familiar girl called Alice. Readers who follow this story will discover clues that will shape Alice’s journey and help her on her way. These clues will appear online and in the real world and will drive readers to the other six stories where they will have the chance to win some wonderful prizes, including The Penguin Complete Classics Library, over £13,000 worth of the greatest books ever written.”
I love that publishers are beginning to push more into the possibilities of the internet. As much as we are all fascinated by video on the web, text and still images are still the most prevalent and accessible tools for communication online.
