Service Journalism – What’s a Widget?
Of all the questions I get asked lately when it comes to what’s happening in “new media,” the most common one is, “what the hell is a widget?” Yup, always with “hell” as people are angry that they keep hearing about something they just don’t understand.
Well, as luck would have it, AdAge has written a quick and simple post covering this very question.
“Think of them as miniature, portable web experiences that can be installed on your computer or — increasingly — embedded in MySpace or Facebook pages, in personalized home pages such as iGoogle, or on blogs.”
The post goes on to cover all your basic bases. Good stuff.
