NBC Viewing Party Kinda Like SeeToo

The gang at TVSquad has some insider info on what appears to be a new web service coming from NBC digital:

“In a nutshell, the service will allow fans to open a chat room and watch an episode at the same time, all synced up and everything. It’s done with flash, so it should play nicely with Mac OS and Windows, and is reported to work in Firefox, IE, and Safari.”

This reminds me of the demo I saw of SeeToo, a service that also allowed simultaneous online viewing of a video.  When that was demoed everyone in the audienced had an “ooo” moment.  This had to do more with the idea of watching personal videos with scattered friends and family or as a potentially powerful business tool.

I’m not sure if that appeal holds true for watching TV together with people remotely.  Time will tell.
