Shiba Inu Puppy Cam – There is a Lesson Here. Somewhere…

Baby Shiba inu 柴犬

So, there has sure been a lot of blog-buzz about the live streaming “puppy cam” featuring a litter of six Shiba Inu puppies.

At this very minute there are over 12,000 people watching.  Last night, showing the site to my friend, we found almost 20,000 people were simply watching the puppies sleep!

Here’s the really compelling thing: we watched them sleep, too.  For almost half-an-hour.

Now, the popularity of this little puppy cam is not exactly shocking but it does prove that it doesn’t always take rocket science and a big-name star to attract an audience.

It will be interesting to see if competitors pop up.  Why aren’t pet stores all live-broadcasting their puppies?!

They are cute, but they are not from a pet store! They are from a reputable breeder. You should never purchase puppies from a pet store – rescue or use a breeder!

I hope to the high heaven that pet stores don’t start to do this, what a horrible suggestion. We’re still so far from banning pet store sales – the last thing we need is something like this to dupe uneducated people into purchasing puppymill dogs.

Will we ever see any facts on the pups—what is average weight, is this the first litter for the couple, how long have they had ‘mom’? How soon will they move to new homes? Has a toy company thought about marketing a plush version?
