Always Sunny Cast Shows How To Reward Old Fans and Get New Ones

This is likely going to be the season that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" finally goes mainstream and that's ok. This is one of the funniest and most original shows on cable and has been building audiences year-to-year for three seasons.
Now, to both reward their rather rabid fanbase and to attract new folks to the fold, the gang from Sunny is doing a live tour version of the musical "The Night Man" and screening a new episode from this season at theaters across the country. This not only builds excitement for the new season but creates a far stronger bond with their viewers – the people most likely to spread the word and build the audience. Why is it that so few shows attempt this kind of true fan outreach? Imagine how much more successful a show like whatever the hell that Parks Department show from NBC would have been with a series of live appearances by the stars at park picnics around the country? So few TV shows do anything approaching creative marketing or promotion and that's really a loss for both networks and fans.
