Fantastic Student Music Video to I Gotta Feeling! Gotta Be Banned?

This is a classic case of the problems with copyright laws, especially as it pertains to music.  Below is a completely entertaining student film feature over 100 performers doing a one-take lip-dub to the Black-Eyed Peas' song "I Gotta Feeling."

Now, if one were to follow the letter of the law, the Black-Eyed Peas, or more likely their label, would be well within their rights to have the video taken down and to  sue the video maker if he or she persisted in posting it elsewhere on the web.  The question is whether or not the band or the label is actually risking a loss of revenue if, instead of trying to bury a fan video like this, that they instead promoted it and even sent the director some tickets to the next show.

Protecting a copyright often seems to fly in the face of good  business.
