Whole Foods Tries Green Video

Whole Foods spent March holding in-store and online auditions for teen hosts for a new series of videos about kids and the environment.

This month they will begin to roll out the results.

I watched a handful of the current videos and while it feels like their heart is in the right place it doesn’t strike me as very entertaining – like lots of “kid-news” stuff, it is too much like a simplified 60 Minutes than a truly youthful and innovative approach.

There is nothing wrong with this sort of video but I fear it is something the adults will go around feeling real good about but that the kids aren’t especially going to watch it.

ManiaTV More Funded

NewTeeVee is reporting that original web content producer/distributor ManiaTV has put together some more funding.

“ManiaTV’s strongest content comes from so-called D-list celebrities such as Dave Navarro and Tom Green. The company had 8.8 million visitors last month, according to comScore. Hoskins would not quantify revenue, which comes primarily from “blue-chip advertisers,” but said “We tripled last year from the year before, and we’ve already nearly met what we did last year [so far] and it’s just in Q1.”

The Tom Green show is a pretty cool thing, as he shoots it all pretty much independently  from his home and it airs live first.  Their other content also has live components and the site “broadcasts” throughout the day – though I am not clear if this is live or not.
